I frequented this pizza joint while in business in State College this past summer and fall. while I have to say I was generally happy to order from them because they were open late and the food came quickly, there were some issues with consistency. 3 stars for having decent steak and cheese but they fall short on the quality and consistency of the pizza.

It took an hour and a half for the delivery and it was cold. Their excuse was we are busy....well I ordered a pizza and i expect it to be at least warm.

We had their food delievred yesterday during the "snow storm". They actually came up to our apartment, that's one star on its own. We ordered a 12in veal sub (the veal fairly heavily breaded, but delicious), 12 chicken wings (OK, buffalo style) a angus-burger on kaiser bun with cajun mayo (delicious) and got a free 14in cheese pizza. Their pizza is NY Style, which means that if you're into Papa John's (or the likes) heavy and thick crusts this is not going to be your thing. The Cove's is thin, with wide slices and simple in condiments. The pizza is what I liked the best of all the food we ordered. With their reasonable delivery fee ($0.99 on lionmenus), I'll certainly order from them again.

As is typical in State College the local eateries can produce inconsistent food. We started ordering from The Cove during the summer, and the food was fantastic. As the semester began the quality of the food went down. The last two meals from The Cove were not great, and the last pizza we ordered got thrown in the trash half eaten. The cheese wasn't even fully melted, and it peeled off the crust after the first bite. The sauce was overkill and made it taste like eating marinara sauce off undercooked dough. I also raved about the burgers in my previous review. It seems like they may have gotten a new cook, because not only was the last burger I received from there mediocre, but it was prepared in a totally different way than any of the other burgers I've ordered. I think The Cove is still worth a shot, we'll probably order from there again at some point, but it has been disappointing lately.

Don't order this pizza if you have any other option. I ordered 2 doz boneless hot wings, 18 inch cheese pizza, 18 inch pepperoni and mushroom pizza and a two liter of Diet Coke. The total came to $43 and some change. Not too bad right? WRONG! The pizza was gross, the hot wings barely sauced (and not boneless at all), and I had nothing to drink in the end. The pizza was some of the worst I've ever eaten, the dough tasted (and looked) like cardboard and there was hardly any sauce, cheese, or toppings. The best part was the actual crust of the dough, as it was chewy enough to dip into some ranch, so I guess that deserves a star. The wings were supposed to boneless, but I when I called to see how long the wait was, the guy informed me that they only had enough boneless wings to do half the order, and asked if I'd like regular wings or boneless non-breaded chicken for the other half. Grudgingly I agreed to bone-in wings for the second half, but alas I either got all bone-in wings, or half an order of wings, as I didn't count them before they were picked through... oh wait, they're all there save for the three that were fed to my dog, because nobody else wanted to eat unsauced bland chicken wings, so yeah they just gave me the whole order in bone-in wings instead of a split order. Then the best part, I paid extra to get a two liter of Diet Coke, and got...nothing. No soda, though maybe that's my fault because I didn't think of it until I was almost home, a half an hour away. I really wanted to like this place, the people sounded nice and it's probably a nice little family joint, but I just couldn't like The Cove. The food wasn't good, and for the money, there are definitely cheaper, better-tasting places in the State College and Bellefonte area.

Ordered a steak salad about a week ago for delivery and the the delivery time was very quick. As far as the salad itself, it was super good with loots of good stuff on it. Steak was good and had fries on it along with cucumbers, onions and what ever else. The container it was in when I received it seamed to weight a ton, mind you it was a salad. So another words, it was packed to the top of the container. Well worth the price of admission for the salad at $8.99. I've had salads like this at $12.99 and this salad was just as good verses the $12.99 salad. I'll be ordering again from them hopefully soon.

Pizza is awesome. Customer service, not so much. Just picked up a carryout order. Despite having 4 employees there, they were very disorganized and confused trying to keep track of orders. They gave me the wrong order but charged me for what I actually ordered, which was $2 more. Didn't discover the mistake until I got home, which was my own fault -- always make sure your order is correct before you pay and leave. It doesn't help that they don't take your name when you order; they just ask you what you ordered when you come in to pick it up. Not very efficient. Also, they do not accept even local checks, just cash and credit cards.

The parm garlic wings had NO flavor and no sign of garlic or parm. The steak wrap was skimpy on everything. If fact the steak was almost non existent. It was supposed to come with fries. Instead I got a .25 cent bag of potato chips! All this for $20.00 plus tip delivery fee and processing fee totaling $20.72. Now I am going to the gas station out in front of the hotel to get something else to eat, and I normally don't eat big meals....... NEVER EVER AGAIN!

Just plain horrible from A-Z, DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM HERE!!!! Buyer be warned.... We called in an order, said it would take 40 min, actually it was over an hour. When food arrived, order was wrong!!! Had to call back, said we wanted a credit, they said "No cannot do" so we said send out the right order, WTF????? When the corrected order arrived, the business had the nerve to write all over the bag and wrapping what the item was in 20 different locations, basically every spare inch. We guess they thought it was funny, haha, shame on us for thinking they were a legit business. Run do not walk away from this shop of @#%$%$%%%

Still horrible. Avoid at all costs. There are simply too many decent pizza joints in State College to ever consider this a business that should remain in business. My original review... I returned to The Cove after 2 years, where my first experience was poor. This time I visited for a couple slices instead of ordering delivery. I though I'd give them a second chance. Well, this time was even worse than before. The place is small and fairly dirty. Four parking spots plus a handicap, but two of those spots were taken by employees (no other customers there during my visit). And they have three tables inside with two chairs each, but two of them were used by employees. One employee was sort of camping there, while a laptop PC lay on the other one. Floors were dirty, and even the table I sat at was dirty from the last customers who eat there (may be the day before since I arrived at 11-something?). Even the spice shakers were dirty. Not a good sign. Yup, this is a dive. Fortunately the employee behind the counter was nice and helpful. He cleaned the table for me when I asked about it. However, it should have been done in advance as they were not busy. Lots of variety on the menu, but given the lack of cleanliness I wouldn't want to risk anything but a high turnover item like pizza. So I ordered two slices with pepperoni. He served it rather quick too. And of course a little too quick since the slices were just lukewarm. Almost no flavor at all, and considering how dirty the spice shakers were, I didn't want to risk that either. The top of the pizza was coated in grease, but even the grease had no flavor. Cheap cheese, cheap pepperoni. Very little sauce. Worse was the quantity of cheese, as they were extremely skimpy with it. so bad that the cheese didn't even cover the crust. It just laid there like sparse little poka-dots. The slices are apparently from their 18" pizza, yet they were small enough to be from a 14" or so. Very sad if they have to cut back so much as the ruin their pizza. Crust was ok, pretty good inside, but not NY style. It was a little too thick all over. Still, decent crust. It's sort of funny looking through the reviews on Yelp and Google for The Cove, as some mark them as excellent. I gotta wonder if the owner gets his employees to write those reviews, or if some people in a town saturated with pizza joints still don't know what good pizza is? And the negative reviews on Google all have been marked unhelpful by at least one person, regardless of how open and honest they are. *cough* owner manipulation *cough* Honestly, I will never visit or order food from The Cove again. If I was stuck in the middle of nowhere with no other options I might eat here if someone offered, but I'd rather just eat at a convenience store. Yes, it's that sub-par. Even frozen pizza has more taste than The Cove's pizza. They should scrap everything, all of their ingredients and their suppliers, except for their crust, and start over with their pizza. It wasn't even worth the low dollar-fifty per slice plus toppings price.
